ABOUT US > BACKGROUND SCREENING PROGRAM FOR OUR NATION'S VOLUNTEERS

The availability of Volunteer Screening has fundamentally changed the volunteer review process. More and more nonprofit organizations are conducting background screening which, prior to the availability of Volunteer Screening, was cost prohibitive. The information obtained through Volunteer Screening has changed the way organizations view their volunteers. Organizations now see volunteers as assets, but also as potential liabilities.

In the vast majority of cases, volunteers have their clients' best interests at heart and perform their duties with professionalism and dedication. But in some tragic instances, volunteers have abused their responsibility and violated the trust placed in them. Recent events have only highlighted a growing concern about caregivers and the roles they play – bringing to light the need to know more about the personal histories of those who seek to serve children, as well as elderly and disabled people.
